Purchased by the Hill family in 1935 and they kept it and its history alive for many years. The Hills had one child, daughter Janaloo, who continued to keep the legacy of the town going until she died in 2005. Her husband Manny has maintained the tradition, and the town is open for tours on selected weekends throughout the year. I remember seeing a photo of Janaloo in a ghost town book, probably taken sometime in the 1960s, and it struck me how she had a sort of ghostly look at that time. When I did the tour in 2004, she was there sitting at a table autographing books and answering questions. The Hill family is buried at Shakespeare. |
