| no partners | | Another hike in the area with Bob E as the guide. We again wandered west of Battle Axe with the Ajax Peak ridge as the goal. Exploratory. Ended up high on a ridge with some nice views to the south and west. Just a fun playful pocket of adventure in there. 
This is Bob's write up of our day out there (from the SAHC bulletin):
"Some surprises. A rock blocked Battle Ax Road part way in, adding 1.3 road miles each way to what became a hike of just over 12 miles and 2,700'. The other surprise was finding ourselves unexpectedly on the Arizona Trail for a couple of miles. Much easier than the bushwhack we anticipated. Lunch was on a high point 0.2 miles north of Ajax. You could see the whole world from there. We explored Ajax a little before leaving the area, but had to leave the attempt at the summit for next time. Part of the return trip was via a canyon with extensive bed rock, so Cindy got a canyon fix."
