On a spur of the monument, I decided to head up to Flat Iron on Thanksgiving. If you are going to attempt this hike pace your self. I started out fast after passing the granite bowl near where the dry waterfall is, it becomes very challenging.
I was amazed at the runners going up it to run the ridge line and all the other hikers out there. I started at 730 from the state park, reached Flat Iron around 12-1230 then got back to my truck around 230.
All I can say is what a hike and what a view, there were a few on the trail. Ran in to a group that offered great encouragement.
It defiantly is a 4 out of 5 on the difficulty, after you pass the granite bowl area get ready to climb up rocks.
Great trail great view glad I finally got off my butt and did it
There were individuals in there 80's and kids as young as 10 climbing it. |
