A young man followed us up Siphon Draw on his way to Flatiron for the first time. We parted ways after the wall and headed up 5024 after a brief meeting with syoung. Once on the ridgeline, we wouldn't see anyone else all day. Walking the ridge was scenic and pretty straight forward. Lots of cairns and an obvious use path. Skies were as clear as we'd seen in recent weeks and views were great. Once in full sun, the cold wind was enjoyable and balanced the warm sunshine perfectly. After 11am, I was in shorts and a tank top all day, in December. We had lunch before the uphill to 5057 and a short break once on the summit. The hoodoos sure are fascinating. We then dropped back to the ridgeline and over to Robber's Roost, where it was cool and nicely shaded. Continued on to Freemont Saddle and took Cave Trail down. After a short road walk, we were back at the vehicle. This was a fun one! All day ridge walking, excellent views, hoodoos, peaks and seclusion in the Western Supes. Great day. |
