A couple of Pretty Areas in this Canyon including the Technical Section, but most likely won't be High on a Technical Canyoneer's List due to the Length and Effort of the Approach and Exit just for that Short Tech Section... The Exit was Tedious and quite the Bushwack and Route Finding Extravaganza.... Most of the Canyon is typical Creekbed but with the Recent Rain and a Spring there was a little Water which made for nice Scenery in Spots. However, due to the Elevation of this Canyon and Time of Year, we made an Effort to stay Dry and were Successful, although a couple of the Guys risked a Soaking to Play a bit... Took Wetsuits, but never put them on. There was Ice covering some of the Puddles. We named this Canyon just due to the close Proximity to Timber Camp. It's actually Ash Creek from what I can see... Yes, another Ash Creek in Arizona... Lots of Cow Poop in this Canyon in the Upper Section. Looks like Ranchers built a Dam in the Lower Section to keep Cows from going Upstream and possibly to Pipe Water... Ran into a what appeared to be a Pot Operation in the Exit Canyon. There had to have been 2 Dozen Sleeping Bags strewn all over, a Camp Stove and a Huge Bag of Ferilizer along with about 1/4 Mile of Piping... Never did see any Plants though so was probably abandoned, although the Piping was all in excellent Shape...
A couple of the Guys playing around... The Rest of us just walked around the other way.... The Name of the Song is "Dat Step"... Seemed fitting. Trying to find a Handhold to go with that Step proved difficult and I can relate from Previous Experiences... [ youtube video ] |
