| no partners | | April Fool! Joke's on me! Stoneman Lake, one of the only natural lakes in Arizona, is completely dry.
I was on my way up 17 to Flagstaff (my home for a while), having gone to the Lake Pleasant Paddle Fest for several days. I had the boat with me, of course. Since I had heard about Stoneman Lake for about 30 years, but had never seen it, I thought, "What the heck, I want to do a lot of new things this year. I'll stop by there and maybe even go for a paddle!"
I had seen many photos of that lake, always showing water in it. However, today there appeared to be only a couple of very small ponds, no more than 10 feet across, in the middle of the area, and that was it.
Well, Wikipedia does say that the lake dries up from time to time: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoneman_Lake
Sigh... |
