| no partners | | I was in Sierra Vista Memorial Day Weekend, and after hiking the Sky Islands Summit Challenge on Saturday and the Chiricahua Big Loop on Sunday, we were looking for a short hike on Monday morning, so we opted for Mount Ballard and Fissure Peak.
This turned out to be a very nice hike. The hike up to Ballard was on a trail that was easy to follow for the most part. The trail from Ballard to Fissure was a bit sketchy in places, but with the GPS track in hand it was no trouble getting there and back.
The views on both peaks were nice -- to the south you could see Naco, and to the west Miller and Carr Peaks stood out.
I did not find the summit log book on Ballard, but we found and signed the one on Fissure.
My Garmin GPS indicated that Fissure was 4 feet higher than Ballard, so I guess that settles the argument as to which one is higher! |
