| no partners | | | Had hoped for better views with the sunny forecast but unfortunately the clouds around Rainier only provided glimpses of the mountain. Mt. St. Helens was pretty visible as were Glacier Peak and even Mt. Baker. Only the lower section of Mt. Adams was visible. Lots of signs of elk but no elk, just plenty of chipmunks. The highlight was a great encounter with what I think was a sooty grouse. We hear them often when hiking but rarely get a good view. This one strutted and showed its colors. Very cool! |
