Starting from East Rim trailhead we dropped off the rim on good trail down steep switchbacks. It was a little brushy at times but otherwise in great shape. Decent views on the way down of North Canyon which was our next target. About 1.9 miles to the North Canyon junction and we were in dense trees of spruce and fir. Starting up North Canyon Trail it was also in great shape and at first the creek was dry but soon water appeared. Several times the trail was right next to the flowing creek so water was readily available. It was a very pleasant hike along North Canyon with the lush forest and flowing creek. Eventually the trail starts to gain elevation quickly as it reaches the top. There is a series of steep switchbacks near the top as it approaches the Arizona Trail junction.
Reaching the Arizona Trail junction we were back on the rim. It was 2 miles back to East Rim but it's an easy stroll on great trail with excellent rim views and we stopped at one of them for a break. Done with our break it was a fast retrun to East Rim trail head. Great hike to finish off the weekend!
