| no partners | | This was the second time I attempted this trail. The first time I took so many wrong turns (or I thought I was wrong, tracked back and found out I was right all along) that I aborted the hike at the 3.4 mile point.
The description from TerrySwiceGood is pretty accurate till the 3.4 mile point. One remark on the junction with the carved rock though. Follow the trail here, DON'T go right.
Once you reach the 3.4 mile point the trail gets very faint in most places. The cairns were pretty much covered by grass and so are the rocks. I must have tripped dozens of times. A map or a GPS is not a great luxury here.
The final ascent to the mesa is very steep and is very tricky coming back down. Hat off if you can return to the trail without falling.
