Got together with a great group and had an amazing adventure to Reavis Falls on a perfect day. We left AJ around 6:30am and made the drive to a very busy Reavis North Trailhead. We geared up and headed in. Nichole set a fast pace and we cruised those first few miles to our turnoff. From there we climbed up and started the long descent. Most of the snow was gone but there patches at higher elevations and some on north facing slopes.

The long descent went well and we found ourselves at a raging creek. We knew we’re in for a treat. The going up canyon was slow & a lot of work but it went well. We found ourselves crossing back and forth over the creek and nothing was too difficult. Most of the crossings were ankle to knee deep. & the water was cold but not freezing. The creek also featured several waterfalls that ranged from a few feet to ten feet. Our anticipation of the main attraction grew.

Before long the top of Reavis Falls came into view and it was absolutely raging! The volume coming over it was unreal. Pictures don’t do it justice! We would spend over thirty minutes taking pictures and eating our lunch & we had the waterfall to ourselves for a few minutes which was a real treat. We eventually started our return as more people were hiking in. We even saw some friends, not associated with HAZ, hiking in.

With much effort we hiked back down the creek and then started the big climb out. It was warm and sunny as we labored up the climb out. With a lot of work, we topped out on & then it was just about all downhill back to the trailhead. We finished up around 3pm & were back in Phoenix by 5pm.

This was such a fun day and the group was terrific! Seeing Reavis gushing was an amazing sight I won’t soon forget. Thanks Chumley for driving (again) and thanks to everyone else for meeting up. Let’s do it again sometime.
