The drive in along the rim went through some really badly burned sections. This hike was in a lovely area with babbling creeks, green meadows, pine trees and only 2 other hikers. Nice surprise to find some patches of snow in May. Definitely a bit shocked to find the University of Montana dormitory set up at the cabin area. GPS showed an elevation gain of about 2400 -- a tinch more than I was expecting and my calves felt all of it. Thanks to GPSJoe for allowing Sadie and I to tag along. ;)
