| partners | | On the previous day we hiked north(down) Dane Canyon/Creek to complete an addition to this hike description which I now call option 3. This day the plan was to hike south(up) Dane Canyon/Creek to complete the as described hike description loop which(from the TH Start) took us a total of 4.3mls up Dane Canyon to connect with the Barbershop TR#91(our Dane Cyn exit point). This 4.3mls included a short ~.20ml one way hike up/back down the hike description discussed "unsigned use trail" at N34 27.092 W111 09.782 where we took time to clearly cairn it and confirm it's exit point at the unsigned FR9616B(N34 26.981 W111 09.814) which connects further SW with TR#91 and provides the other shorter hike loop option discussed in the hike description. Note: If this above makes no sense to you but you are interested in this area to hike, then please read Nonot's hike desc and view the notes on GPS Routes/pic sets, and then it will! 
If you enjoy hiking our Mogollon Rim-Cabin Loop Area, and are somewhat tired of hiking the same 4-5 official Cabin Loop Trails, then this hike description with its now 3 hike loop options of various lengths will surely provide you some welcomed variety. If you enjoy some relatively easy off-trail navigating/route finding, enjoy a serene, peaceful hiking experience with available water most of the year, excellent possibilities for viewing wildlife(deer/elk,etc..), also with many possible backpack camping opportunities, then you should not be disappointed here! (Hopefully my posted pic set with captions will help to confirm).
Note: for this 9/26 loop hike, we had planned to exit Dane Cyn at Barbershop TR#91 intersection then continue ~west on #91 to connect with Bill McClintock Draw for an additional off-trail route(as per hike desc option) to again connect back with Dane Cyn then back down Dane Cyn to end at our TH Start. Unfortunately, on Barbershop TR#91 we make an incorrect left(north) turn into an unnamed draw which did take us back to Dane Canyon, but way short of the planned Dane Cyn/Bill McClintock Draw intersection. Now we have another planned hike for next Spring or Summer'10 when we will surely return to this enjoyable area!  |
