I've been going up to the Mogollon Rim-Cabin Loop Area to car-camp & hike for a week period at least once each summer for the past 3 years. As such, I have hiked all five of the Cabin Loop Trails with exception of completing the General Crook Trail#130. This 6nt/7day trip to camp at my favorite location up FR139G I was looking forward to hopefully hiking some "off trail" routes and inner canyons.

Thanks to hikeaz(Kurt) & Moovyoaz(Randal) for their 5/19 Mogollon Rim-Cabin Loop triplog post that gave me the idea to hike some of inner Dane Canyon as an "off trail" hike for one planned day hike on this past 6/23 to 6/29 trip. My friend Gary and I hiked the U-Bar TR to Dane Spring/Cabin on 6/24. This gave me the opportunity to locate Kurt's U-Bar TR exit point cairn to the Elk Trail that led down to Dane Canyon Creek. I also for the first time hiked up the hill from Dane Spring to locate the correct TH parking location off spur road FR321A. Nonot(Steve) drove up on Fri-6/26pm to join us for a couple of nights with this Dane Canyon Loop hike planned for Sat-6/27.

This inner Dane Canyon is truly a hiking prize :DANCE:

! Like nonot states in his new HAZ hike description-"Not a Hamlet Imitation". I was blown-away by the thick-lush, dark green foliage that was this canyon with more varieties of wild flowers than I had seen all spring. Easy to follow Elk and Deer use trails and not difficult at all to navigate "off trail" in this canyon going up to intersect the Barbershop TR#91. Next time you are in this area, I highly recommend hiking this Dane Canyon Loop which offers a number of other options as discussed in nonot's hike description which will allow you more "off trail" canyon hiking (in Dane Canyon & Bill McClintock Draw) if you so choose.
