Got started at 5:15 Saturday morning and finished both this section and 13 by 1:30. Saw lots of flowers, 2 bunnies (including one that was VERY friendly - see pics), and lots of lizards, butterflies and grasshoppers. Although not listed in the water sources, there was a big blue tank and trough at mile 194.5 that was full and running. Didn't check any other water sources, as I carried mine the whole way. This section was meticulously maintained. I really enjoyed this hike, and had the pleasure of meeting the trail steward at the end of the passage. I thanked her! This was a nice contrast to section 11, as there was so much downfall and I kept losing the trail. |
