We entered via the West entrance, stopped at the small visitors center and drove to the end of the road that has several trailheads. The trail comes to a split at about the mile and a half point...we went right as I’d read this was the easier way. Going left or right completes the lollipop loop.In another half mile there is a bench and a nice restroom at this point and you can look down on the other side of the mountain you have been climbing....lots of switchbacks. The highlight of the hike was looking down on 3 California Condors soaring in a canyon below us. This was our 39th National Park visit out of the 61. |
