First .25 miles of hiking is on exposed sand which is incredibly hot for the dogs paws during midday. From then on out mostly in the shade. Got to the standard turnaround point and waded up the creek another 300 yards to a nice shallow pool. Let the dogs swim and we cooled off for a few hours... most folks didn't seem to make it all the way to the turnaround point so it was quite quiet. Quite a few young children on the trail as well. Disappointing amount of cairns (no need trail is clear as day), dog poop bags, and picnic trash left behind. Please pack it out and keep your dogs on a leash. |
