We took our time meandering around as is customary with families at WF. My 8 year old was able to demonstrate her extensive knowledge of the trail to her mom/sister from our recent backpacking trip there. Took the dog to his favorite spot (dubbed "The Pink Beach" by my kids due the the way the light sometimes appears pink there at the right time of day) to run and splash in the water. Picked some apples and wild blackberry-- amazing how few there were compared to when we were up for the backpacking trip just a few weeks prior-- and even found some wild cherries which we identified with our edible plants of AZ book we had on-hand.
We headed up after a few ours and filled our canteens at the spring up the way before heading further on to Flagstaff for pizza at Fratelli's. I cannot think of a much better way to spend a day |
