| no partners | | Came out to the middle portion of the unit to help a friend out with a cow elk hunt and a good excuse to hike around an area I’ve always wanted to check out.
He successfully harvested his animal by around 6:30am, I arrived shortly after and helped him load it in the truck after he gutted it as instead of field butchering he took it to his game processor back in town.
After that I made a nice loop hike throughout the countless overgrown draws and drainages which were very arid and dry which makes the nearby water tanks and big canyons great congregating area for all types of animals.
Found a nice little old deadhead underneath some small dead pines and soon afterwards a solid horn followed by a live bull and a few cow elk and calfs that scurried away.
Days are still a tad warm but the mornings and evenings have the invigorating crisp cool air of Autumn up here in the high country. |
