We both split up and I immediately headed north for a particular ridge and he did more of an east and west hike while we communicated on our radios.
I bumped a couple bull elk that I was fortunate to get a glimpse of as they ran away with big fresh hard horns that appeared to be shed of all their summer velvet.
So many little sub draws, canyons and nooks to explore so I attempted to grid and cover as much areas as possible.
As I was in blue hot sunny skies my friend two miles south was in the heart of a dark random passing storm and got a solid dose of short lived rain along with closeby lightnining.
On my way back I came across three coues bucks with two of them being absolute studs sporting solid velvet racks, still growing might I add which is always cool to see.
Nothing particularly amazing but as always a great and blessed time out in the woods. |
