| no partners | | Harvesting firewood the legal and ethical way these days is gritty hardwork that involves serious persistence and energy.
It’s tough to find good solid hardwood near roads or anywhere with ease of access as anything within sight has almost always been cut even it was years ago.
All of the wood I found and cut was truly and literally hiked back to the truck usually up, over and around some kind of obstacle filled terrain for considerable distance, the few times I had a tree in close proximity to the vehicle made me feel quite spoiled.
Hammering wedges, felling trees and working late deep in the Arizona backcountry until sundown certainly makes me love and appreciate this great state even more.
