This is a fairly strenuous hike and I have found it difficult to complete when the weather is getting too hot or when my waistline is getting too big. The trail is very well maintained coming up the hill from Canyon Lake and down into the valley below. We got into serious problems one hot trip trying to come out via the LeBarge Creek when the Catclaw was out in force and the water was too high to make passing practical. Once you reach the Y at the wash take the left wash and it is boulder-hopping time for a long way but the scenery is excellent all the way up until the Lower LeBarge. The canyon is spectacular with vertical walls of dark brown rock. This is a great place to have lunch on the smooth rocks. We have been there several times when people were wading in the water. There is almost always water here. On the way out of the canyon there is a small campsite on the left hand side where you can find a trail to take you up over a saddle and down into Boulder Canyon for the hike back. This is a much easier way back and it has it's own beauty. The pictures I am posting are from two hikes one in 2017 and another in 2019. We love this place and try to hike here at least once a year.
