While on Aztec Peak I decided I would walk FR 487 back to the lower trailhead of Abbey's Way. The reasons were to avoid the deadfall and to make myself visible to fire personnel so they could account for my whereabouts. On the way down I again encountered Morgan, who was slowly leading the dozer up the road to Murphy Ranch. Spent a few minutes visiting with him again, and recounting some tales of Red's time in the tower.

Also chatted with some other hikers that were walking up the road back to their vehicles at Moody TH. They were the folks camping at Rose Creek CG.

Hope all goes well with the Juniper Fire operations. It will be interesting see the aftermath in the future.
