| no partners | | I've been wanting to hike the entirety of the Weatherford trail ever since my first time up Humphrey. I had convinced myself it would be one of the best trails in Arizona. I was right.
On a little trip to Flagstaff for some hiking, I lost my mind on the Weatherford...shade, views, climbing, the Inner Basin, alpine country...this hike has it all. For me, it was everything I hoped it would be. And a nice tough hike to boot. Who knows the true distance of this one, or how far I went exactly. Who cares? I did not make it to the summit, for the aforementioned snow field on the slopes of Agassiz got me. Getting melty and a little unstable after a few test yards, I decided to uphold my promise not to do anything dumb since I was out here alone. A little disappointed at not making the top I turned around and headed back to Schultz Pass. Thankfully I've been up there before, so not too big a deal. Plus, now I just have to do it again.
Everyone has their own AZ favorites, as they should. For me, perhaps, Weatherford #102 sits at the top. |
