The first mile the powerlines are pretty close, but then there's some distance from them and the views get a little bit better, just keep looking to your left. After the first mile, there was a couple of small wastewater plants, then some construction grading for what looks to be a new subdivision. The trail gets close to Happy Valley Road for a bit, with visible and audible traffic.
This is one of the few dedicated sections of the MT that is mostly single track. It's single track for just over 5 miles, then the trail crosses back under the powerlines and by a substation. It's on a dirt road for a little bit through that area. Then it follows the Happy Valley Parkway for a while. I took the parkway to just past the 303 and headed back.
Saw only 5 hikers the entire time, all on the way out. Very peaceful, nice to have some solitude. |
