| no partners | | A little bit of each side of Grand Ave. on the Maricopa Trail. Started from Trilby Trailhead (not much more than a dirt parking lot). You turn off Grand Ave. onto 163rd Ave., then make a quick right on the first street and take that to the dirt lot. Went east along the trail for about 2.5 miles. Flat, dusty, windy with a lot of creosote bushes and grass. Saw no one, not surprisingly. This was just covering ground on the MT completing another section. On the good side, I'm out there alone with my thoughts, away from everything, no interruptions. It's good to see the desert and the surrounding mountains. At least they don't nag at you or ask you for anything except your companionship.
West of Grand from Trilby was more of the same. I did another 2 miles out to Picacho Wash, a huge flat area before you get to the power lines. Maybe the most exciting thing was finding a Callaway Diablo ball on the trail, in the middle of nowhere. I don't even think it was one of LosDos' 5-wood shots. Good news is it's playable...at least for me. |
