| no partners | | Wanted to do something besides just pass through my favorite mountains, and I've been looking at Engineer Mountain for awhile. So gave it a shot.
The Pass Trail part is gentle incline through beautiful forest. Once past Engineer Mountain Trail, you're at the tree line and the views open up. Also it starts getting steep.
I got up to the notch where the crux of the route is, and while the scramble up past the notch looked well within my scrambling abilities, the exposure was on my mind. Basically, I didn't feel confident enough in not making any mistakes, and turned around.
Ran most of the way down, and had to pass about 50 mountain bikers. There was really no reason for them to be on a trail with that much pedestrian traffic. |
