| no partners | | | It was time for Fall Colors Hike 2020. Yesterday I headed up to the West Fork Trail. I headed out in the dark and got to enjoy the sunrise hitting the red rocks. What a sight! I got to Call of the Canyon shortly after 7:30 and waited in a short line to park. I was ready, a new camera, a new portable sitting stool and a new backpack to carry it. got underway a little before 8 with the temp about 55. I headed up the trail, as usual the canyon presents lighting challenges that I have not quite figured out yet. Then the reds began to appear. The usual spots were involved. They are like old friends that you are happy to see again. Some yellows and oranges showed up. Overall I would say that this may not be the best year for color that I have seen. Maybe it will get better over the next few weeks. Those of you with better knowledge of such things please feel free to chime in. Anyway I took a break at the third creek crossing. I went to the fourth and that is where I turned around. I know that I take shorter hikes that just about everybody on this trail (I really need to get in better shape) but any time spent on this trail is always enjoyable. As always it is also fun to see the variety of people out on the trail at this time. and there was a lot of variety! |
