I started at the Hieroglyphic Trailhead which is a paved lot accessed by a paved road. I started on the Hieroglyphic Trail and then quickly took the fork east on the Lost Goldmine Trail. I followed the trail just over 2 miles to an intersection with a dirt road. I then followed the dirt road north to the western base of the mountain. I took the wrong drainage on the way up but finally connected with a faint trail with numerous cairns which make the route relatively easy. There are a few places where you are exposed to heights and need to be cautious. The high point has a very small footprint but the vantagepoint offers great views. Swallows were diving around me as I was checking out the peak register. I followed the cairns all the way down and saw where I missed the turn leading up the trail which is marked with a large cairn as well. This route is shorter than coming from the Lost Dutchman Trailhead located just south of the Peralta Trailhead.
