| no partners | | I like Lone Mountain as a workout hike, but I have yet to hike the Circumference Trail. After hiking to the top, I decided to give it a shot.
As Circumference trails go, this one is not so fun, though the views are quite good as you make your way around. I don't know how many drainages I had to cross, some quite steep and loose, but it was probably a dozen too many. Do yourself a favor and take the nearby Pass Mountain Loop trail instead. You get an extra three miles with far less difficulty.
As I made the final turn to the southwest, I saw a caravan of emergency vehicles on Usery Road. I was hoping it wasn't a cyclist. When I reached the trailhead, more emergency vehicles were there interviewing people. Turns out a family was biking along the road when the father became distressed from fatigue coming back up the hill. I hope he's okay.
In spite of my general dislike of the Circumference Trail, the weather was nice and it's always good to be out hiking. There are no bad hikes, just good hikes and great hikes. |
