Kelley likes to "find things" while hiking so I was told to keep my eyes open. Today was very productive for her.
1) Within the first half mile I spotted a small deer skull along with one side of its bottom jaw close by. In another 500 yards or so we spotted another skull that looked almost identical to the first. Kelley was convinced we were in a predators killing/eating area
2) While walking up a wash we heard some noises from above and upon glancing up we spotted a fox scampering off to avoid us. It was too quick to get a picture though.
3) On the top off a small knoll we saw several large areas of dirt that was recently loosened. Signs of scrapping, and areas what might look like a hoof kicking up the dirt while getting killed by a predator, (per Kelley). What?? were in NE Mesa not Africa.
Always fun and interesting hiking with Kel. Great day being outside. |
