Eventually dropped into Randolph Canyon which was better but still burn here and there. Randolph was nice with some fall color still holding on and occasional trickle of water. At the Red Tanks confluence there were several really nice pools so we decided to have our first break.
After the break continued up canyon to the Red Tanks Divide which had really good views of Red Tanks and La Barge. From there we dropped into upper La Barge Canyon and happy to be going down this trail instead of up. Scenic section of La Barge that avoided a lot of the burn. Near the bottom we took a longer break or late lunch before continuing on to Whiskey Spring.
Whiskey Spring had water with a few small pools that were plenty good if needed. We checked the area for a few minutes before moving on. Near Miners Summit we took the trail back down to Coffee Flat and returned to Peralta. We only saw 3 people on our loop even though the parking lot was full with everyone going the popular trails |
