| partners | | John and I hadn't hiked out of the Tortilla TH before so we decided today was the day. Unfortunately, that road is way rougher than we had imagined. We made it maybe 1/8 mile up the road and decided to stash the jeep-- we'd just have walk it and make it a big day. Good thing I packed heavy on the food and an extra gatorade.
Hoolie Bacon is pretty lackluster-- I had kind of imagined that. It get better the closer you get you Red Tanks. We hit Red Tanks and hiked through Upper LaBarge (one of my favorite areas). We ran into fricknaley and azdesertfather who told us rumors that JaunJaime was hiking in from Rogers-- we never got to run into him though. Near Labarge, we met slowandsteady and BiFrost-- nice to meet you
We finally made it out to Peters. I think this was the highlight of the day-- what a great trail. Its steep as crap, rugged, and had great views! We saw four groups of backpackers on Peters. We were surprised to see so many.
We made it back to the road and slogged the remaining three miles to the jeep as the sun lowered. We were ready to be done. This was a great day and a solid hike. I would definitely do this one again |
