| no partners | | I have been wanting to make a GPS route for this one for quite some time. I have only done it once in the distant past with success. All the other times I didn't find the correct path down and had to take the dry route back or I went back across the top and back down the Spencer. This time I had success thanks to the help of a drawn route I made in Route Editor. (Thank you Linda for teaching me how to load it from the iPhone directly to my Garmin Fenix). I had Route Scout on the ready if that didn't work out.
Basically you go up the Spencer Trail, then head North to the Dominguez Pass. Route finding can be difficult at times as there isn't really much of a trail after you top out on the Spencer. Just keep going North until you reach the Dominguez Pass. This is where you drop down and can return via the dry route or you can take the Ute trial (no real trail) down to a break in the cliff walls. From here you drop down to the Paria River trail and take that back towards the Lonely Dell Ranch. Once there walk the road back to where you parked and boom you are done. This route is fairly clean. I overshot at the Dominguez Pass by about 100 feet and then realized my mistake. I cleaned the track to correct that.
If you are in the area and like adventure this one is a good one. Just be sure and take plenty of water because it can get hot and dry out there. |
