| partners | | This was our (my visiting TX Granddaughter and my) third full day (day 4) of a planned 4nt/5day camping-hiking trip to our Mogollon Rim- The Cabin Loop hiking area.
I first hiked to this awesome riparian, less visited, more secluded, and more difficult to directly access section of Bear Canyon Main/Lower West Bear Canyon on 9/28/14 [ photoset ] while vehicle camping on FR398 for an Autumn area week visit.
Since 2014, the off-trail access route that I had plotted and then followed had either become more difficult through the years or either I had slowed down-aged a lot or maybe both Anyway, this really special section of Bear Canyon Main had left a good impression on me through the years and now with my Texas Granddaughter visiting me for a long week this June'21, I wanted to share the area with her for a return visit this ~7 years later.
As I previously alluded too, I have yet to find an easy (with minimal bushwhacking & without a lot of miles for an old guy) off-trail hike route to access this special section of Bear Canyon but access via this posted 6/19 Gps Route or via West Bear Canyon or via East Bear Canyon, this awesome section of Bear Canyon Main is worth the effort
It was a great choice for our last full hike day before needing to depart back to my place in South Scottsdale on June 20th.
I should note that my posted 6/19 Gps Route has some pertinent "Information Notes" posted on it that bare repeating here if considering downloading and following:
Please Note:
This GPS Route and Stats does not clearly provide the serious "off-trail" bushwhacking/route finding required from TH Start until entering W. Bear Cyn Lower at Upper Bear intersection. Nor does it clearly provide the serious "off-trail" bushwhacking/route finding required on the return hike up Lower W. Bear Canyon to TH Start.
This posted Gps hike route is correct, but it is missing the needed route detail due to not including enough posted track points (my Garmin GPS Receiver was set on the wrong recording method option and wrong interval option). |
