Drove to the trailhead and saw only one group hiking along Dry Creek Road, which was a good sign. There were 3 other vehicles at the trailhead. The hike up was pretty with the snow. We passed many other groups (at least 10) who were headed back toward the trailhead. Upon reaching the bridge, there were about 15 people waiting in line for pictures on the bridge. We decided to wait in line to get a pic on the snowy bridge, and it was 30-40 minutes, with everybody moving slowly and carefully on the icy rock surface. A couple people slipped on the ice, which was unnerving. Eventually it was our turn, so we took our pictures, and began heading back. At that moment, a gentleman slipped and fell near the edge, and almost took 2 other people down with him. It was scary. We checked to make sure everyone was physically ok, then headed back. I hope everyone is safe out there. |
