| no partners | | Wanted to climb the Sutherland to see what kind of fire damage there was, but I had some last minutes guests join in. It didn't take long to figure out that they wouldn't make that initial ascent up to the ridge line (Eastern folk often underestimate the terrain here). For me, the whole hike became about altering the route to keep everyone motivated and entertained. A tour guide I am not.
On the upside, we did hike the entire Cargodera and could see that the northern side of the ridge appears largely unaffected by the Bighorn fire. In fact, the area seems to have been more affected by last summer's rain - nothing drastic, but it was noticeable in places.
We also took a side trip down the Baby Jesus, in search of signs of ancient inhabitation. I pretty much guaranteed petroglyphs, and put a high probability on some fortress walls, maybe some sherds or the like. Though the area is loaded with that stuff, this new and exciting area I picked was a complete goose egg.
In the end, everyone seemed to have a good time. While my knees say $@-%@# dude, I would really like to get back sometime soon and climb the ridge. |

Cargodera Canyon |
Medium flow |
Medium flow |
| | Good flow, in the upper half of the canyon. Can be heard from the road along the way. This stream disappears into the sand , and reappears a number of times. |

Cargodera Spring |

Gallon + per minute |
| | Excellent flow right now. Best I've seen in decades. |

Wooden Trough Spring |

Gallon + per minute |
| | Excellent flow. The ranchers are piping it in multiple directions and the stream id running. The concrete trough, near the trail has a good gallon per minute and is overflowing for the little critters. | | _____________________
