We entered Yakufat Bay, passed the closest town of Yakufat and cruised towards the glacier. The closer we got, the more icebergs we saw. The captain took us as close to the glacier as he safely could. One of their ships hit an iceberg 3 weeks ago and was damaged.
It was interesting to see the convergence of the seawater with the glacial melt water. The glacial melt contains silt from the retreating glacier that makes the water cloudy/murky.
Hubbard Glacier is located at 60.027617,-139.473333 |
