| no partners | | Spent the better part of the day at the Patriarch Grove of Bristlecone Pines in the White Mts. Skipped White Mt Peak, and frankly, after getting a look at it and with the road condition, I likely won't ever hike it. Maybe I will, too, eventually. Who knows?
The Patriarch Grove is great! A nice relaxing way to enjoy the range. I used a route on the site, and added some as I also walked up to the road and explored some of the dead tree areas.
A note about camping: unless you really want to camp up super high, the free Grand View CG is probably the best spot to do so. Otherwise, there were also a few pull-out view points on the main road facing the Owens Valley, but they can be windy as they are exposed. |
