| no partners | | | Short, easy, pretty loop in a state park just a couple miles from the Minneapolis airport. Starts out paved, then becomes a wide smooth dirt trail. Goes along the Mississippi River for a half mile, then leaves the river and loops back through the woods for another half mile. Just before it reaches the parking lot, there's a quarter mile detour along a small creek to Hidden Falls, which wasn't exactly hidden, had only mild flow, and had construction fencing on the bridge that passed over the falls. The stretch along the Mississippi River was very quiet and peaceful, and it's easy to forget that you're in the middle of a major city. There were a couple other hikers and 3 people walking along the river picking up trash, which was very minimal to begin with, but I did my part and picked up a few things, including a tangle of fishing line wrapped around a tree branch. Overall, very peaceful and relaxing. |
