| no partners | | | Rented canoes at 9-Mile Tavern for a 5.5-mile canoe trip down the Flambeau River. The temperature was 80° and sunny - perfect. There was a slight breeze but sometimes we found ourselves paddling against steady winds. The water depth was lower than average and we had to portage over rapids a couple times. Water depth ranged from 1 inch to over 10 feet. There were 4 series of rapids. We saw multiple large fish, mostly bass and trout, some over 20 inches, pass under our canoe. We stopped and casted a couple times, but didn't catch anything. We met a few other paddlers along the way. Overall, a nice relaxing canoe trip on a beautiful afternoon. |
