Cave Creek was filled with several inches of water but the two planked bridge was well above the flow. I felt like we were back in Sherwood Forest as dozens of other hikers were trying to cross from both directions. The main purpose of this triplog is to comment on the some 200 hikers we met on this loop. Both parking lots were full. I don’t think I’ve seen anywhere near that number on any hike I’ve ever done, even the 19 mile down and back through the Grand Canyon. Bicyclists, yes, but not hikers. Guessing median age of 25 years, not one of them carrying sticks. Mostly in groups of ten to twenty but many singles and doubles scattered among them. One woman was hiking with what may have been her grandchildren who were in their 20’s so she was of a certain age, could have been my daughter. Nice to see people using the park. |
