I decided to check out Stewart Mountain. The Salt River area was very busy today, but no one was on Stewart Mountain. You have to find a way around the barbed wire to get to the trail. The trail was difficult to follow and climb. It's a lot of bushwhacking, which is not my thing. I wasn't in the mood to reach the peak because of the loose rocks. I opted to make a loop out of it by hiking down the northern slope. It was easier to get down that way. I linked onto a trail that I did not know the name of. It led back to my car. The northern section was still recovering from a recent fire, so I did not see much out there.

Stewart Mountain is a great hike for those who want solitude and for thrill-seekers, but I prefer to keep it safe and avoid risky behaviors.
