Ride report from Jun 11th 2023. Only two down trees from the Shannon to the Heliograph Trail Jct. Though one of them is right across the start of the Arcadia Trail where it departs from Heliograph. So annoying as it makes the trail look closed. Perhaps a trail fairy will cut that one out. Main issue with Arcadia Trail is rocks/debris in tread, poorly graded tread and overgrowth which is mainly ferns...deep ferns.
We tried to move many things out of the way that could catch you when riding through the ferns. However, we can't get everything because of limited viz. Use caution.

Only about 3 trees down near the Noon Creek Ridge Intersection. Thorny locust isn't too bad yet. Last year's brush cutting has kept it back. Worth a ride but it's rustic and on the adventure side. Not too steep or technical. Corners are mostly very MTB friendly. Sent some trail runners out to do this one a few weeks ago. They said the low viz from ferns makes it a little unnerving for them. My guess is hikers should be fine. So awesome to be riding this trail. In years past, there was too much deferred maint and annual deadfall to really make it worth trying to ride. SDMB's brushcutting last fall coupled with what seems like low deadfall this year...due to nothing more left to fall has made for relatively good summer conditions. That said the trail now needs to be properly brushed out and the tread fully established. Good news is that there should be pro crews coming in this fall to help with that.
