This was just one part of my 8.5 mile roundtrip hike near the Sunset trail and heading out to Mt Bigelow road. It was a very pleasant hike and shaded almost the entire way. The hike up to Spencer peak is a but steep but it's not very long. On the way up, I just basically followed a variety of animal trails and stayed in the shade as much as possible. Near the top, the brush got a bit thicker but I just weaved my way through it and the last 5 minutes of climbing was fairly open. I did see some green square markers on trees in some areas near the lower part and near the top I found some pink ribbons tied to trees. On the way down, I followed the pink ribbons to the unmarked trail which I will call the Sunset extension trail. |
