I've had this peak on my list for quite some time, and finally decided to take it on one evening before camping. I ended up starting the hike a little after 5 pm and it took me about 1 hour at a relaxed pace to do the roundtrip. In the summer months, starting at 5 or 6 pm is probably a good start time since it can get quite hot in the earlier hours. It was warm but comfortable in the later hours. The trail was well-maintained and very enjoyable. This hike would probably be fine for beginner hikers. Near the beginning, there's a small tunnel that the trail goes through. At the top is an old fire lookout building which was built in 1935.
