There were lots of quail hunters out and about, in fact, I had to announce my presence to some after they rattled off four rounds out of the wash that were particularly close to me, as I was descending a ridgeline above them. They were cordial though and appreciated the warning, as they did not see me. I returned their politeness and picked up their shell casings on my way out.
The eclipse was pretty cool to experience, even without glasses. The temperature dropped and the lighting briefly went to a golden hour type glow for several minutes. It would have been nice to have seen it with some glasses, but I think experiencing it in the way I experienced it was perhaps more appropriate for the prehistorically influenced setting. |
