The road off of Seven Springs Road was in excellent shape and appeared to have been the recipient of some recent maintenance. We started hiking about ten minutes to seven, there were some hunters in the area and a couple of quads and a truck parked near the start, but they were the only signs of humans we saw all day. A long and somewhat tedious descent to the creek, with a little overgrowth. There was some water at the bottom of the descent and some light flow in spots for the first few tenths of a mile up stream. The cabin and immediate surrounding premises were kind of trashed, with a lot of junk and trash strewn about. More junk and rodent damaged items inside the cabin, and some long expired food, but not much in the way of usable amenities. I climbed on top of the dry-pour over near near the base of the drainage that Lime Spring flows into, but it was dry and I did not observe, or hear any water trickling down from above. There may be some water at the source, but I did not go that far. After a nice break at the cabin, we explored the surrounding area some and headed back. A bit of a slog climbing out, but manageable. |
