Note: Peak 5359 is also known as Devil's Throne, apparently. On this trip report, I will also include my summit of Peak 5133 and Peak 5173 which is East of Peak 5359. Peak 5133 is labeled on the topo map on HikeArizona.com, but the other higher peak was not shown there. I took several elevation measurements and 5165 was the highest reading that I found. However, the Arc GIS World topo map showed 5173 which I suppose is the official elevation. When I was on this peak I left a registry and labeled it Peak 5165 without knowing about the "official" 5173 elevation, so that's what I wrote on the registry.

I've had Peak 5359 in my queue for probably a year and finally was in the area on Thanksgiving and decided to hike it. My friend had a schedule conflict so I was on my own today. I was able to follow the 4x4 road I parked on up. At each junction on the road, I turned right. When I got near the saddle that was SE of Peak 5133, the 4x4 road ended and there was a cul-de-sac. I noticed a pretty clear use trail continuing in the direction of Peak 5359 so I followed it. From this point, Peak 5359 looked very steep and I thought that ropes might be needed, but I kept hiking to get closer to the peak. The use trail stayed on the North side of Peak 5173, and there were a few tricky areas. I did see a few cairns and was able to follow this use trail all the way to the saddle East of Peak 5359. From here the climb to the top looked easier that it looked from a distance but still not trivial.

I stayed on the ridgeline and climbed up. There were a few places where I needed to use my hands and climb at the same steepness of a ladder, but there really were not any dangerous areas in my opinion. If something looks too dangerous, pick a better route. I continued up and eventually made it to the summit and found a registry under a rock pile. It was very windy up there around 2 pm. I signed the registry, took some pics and videos and then went back down almost the same way I went up with a few minor route changes. I got back to the saddle East of Peak 5359 again and decided the summit the small peak to the East which only took a few minutes. I didn't see a registry here, but I had a glass jar on me, so I left it here with a small rock pile for future hikers. There was some brush but I was able to hike around all of it. The North and East faces of this peak were quite steep, so from here, I decided to go back to the saddle again. From here I got on the use trail and followed it East. After getting back to the 4x4 road, I noticed that I had time to summit Peak 5133, so I did that one also. The hike up and down this peak was quite pleasant in the areas where there were large slabs of rock. If you are patient and you weave around the brush well, you probably can be on large slabs of rock for 3/4 of this hike from the saddle to the peak. At the peak, I didn't see a registry and I didn't have any more jars but I did find an empty plastic jar with no lid and some kind of white plastic piece of trash. I was able to write my name and date on the white plastic piece, almost as if it was paper. I created a registry from the trash and put it under a rock pile for future hikers. Then, I followed my route down to the 4x4 road and back down to where I parked. All in all, this was an interesting and fun hike! The bushwhack was minimal if you pick your route carefully.
