| no partners | | | Hiked from the Mormon Grove TH to 5 mines. I first hike past the intersection of the Saddle Mountain and Sheeps Crossing trails to the Story mine. I turned right at a cairn and went directly to the mine. This involved some bushwhacking for a short distance that could be avoided by going straight past the cairn and taking a longer route. After Story the hike is easy all the way to the remains of the Stone house. After that it's a difficult hike in a canyon alongside a creek that is only good for bushwhacking mountain goats until you reach Mine 2. The rest of the hiking is not difficult. The trail I used after reaching the Sunflower mine had and extra mine along the way which I called a Bonus mine. Another beautiful day in the Mazatzals. |
